FTI Sawmill.
Was established in 1985 to contribute internal incomes of the Institute as well as to ensure that students have adequate environment for practices. The FTI Sawmill is owned and managed by the Forestry Training Institute under the business unit.FTI Sawmill have a number of qualified sawmill operators, front and back sawyers and saw doctor who ensured that the sawn wood produced are of high standard and the students get knowledge and skills as per standard. The source of raw materials for FTI Sawmill is Meru/Usa plantation. We mainly harvest softwood and hardwood species. FTI Sawmill can saw up to 3000m3 and produce 650m3 of sawn wood. We saw different sizes depending on customers needs, but mostly; 2×4, 2×3, 1×6, 1×8, 1×10.In respect of quality of our sawn wood, we have plenty of customers to meet their orders. Our customers are from Arusha Municipal, Namanga, Longido, Monduli, Karatu and also outside Arusha region. We are still working to maintain the quality of our products and meet customers’ needs.
