Training Forest

The Institute covers an area of 369.73 hectare out of which 318.96 ha are under training forest plantation. Its management is under the supervision of the Training Forest Manager and guided by the management plan which is reviewed every three years. The species grown include Pinus patula, Pinus radiata, Eucalypts spp and Grevillea robusta. Besides providing an area for the students to practice and demonstrate their forest management skills, when mature, the forest is expected to provide raw materials for its training sawmill and generate income for the Institute.
